Welcome, Andrew Silas!

We were incredibly thrilled to welcome our sweet Andrew Silas Vickers 

in the early morning of Wednesday, September 17, 2014.

He is named for my great-grandfather Andrew Alvin Berryman

and Philip's grandfather's great-grandfather Silas Vickers.

And for the two disciples who loved and served Jesus.

He was born in our home at 3:10 a.m., after about 70 minutes of labor. 

He weighed a whopping 9 pounds.

And he was 21 inches long.

We were assisted in delivery by sweet Teree Saenz (middle), 

and midwives Ann Crowell (left) and Michelle Massey (right)

arrived later to assist with the rest.

He was warmly greeted by his Gram, who was also present for the birth,

his big sister Sarah, who woke up just as Andrew was being born 

and again about an hour later (we let her come down to meet him that second time),

and his adoring big brother Luke, who slept right through everything and might have had a bit of a blessed shock when he walked into our room later that morning before school.

He was photographed many times over the first few days.

I was particularly amazed by the size of his feet - and the funny way he looked 

in the hats (which were all a bit too small for his large noggin).

He got lots of love over that first week.

He still does.

On Friday, after two days primarily confined to our bedroom,

Andrew and I joined the rest of the family for breakfast 

and big brother/big sister gifts.

And then later that day, Daddy took the two of us to our postpartum visit.

And then to Wal-Mart.

We are having a great time adjusting to life with three kids.

And we feel blessed beyond measure.
